Work in Berth 25&26 Umm Qasr Port Completed

Precast-Prestress Concrete Panels as Formwork

Part of the structural integrity of the deck structure of berths 25&26 was utilizing of precast prestress panels as structural supporting formwork. The 660 panels weight were in the order of 12 Tons each.

This was the first time that such a construction element was used in Um Qaser port. Nevertheless, all other components of the deck like fenders and edge beams were set in precast form. Basrah Mas set a special precast yard for the production of these elements meeting the designer’s standards.
